How to Find $100+ You're Wasting Every Month

A 15-minute audit can find money you didn't know you were losing. Pull up your last two bank statements. Highlight every recurring charge. You'll find at least one you forgot about.

The average American wastes $133/month on subscriptions they don't use. That's $1,600 a year. And most people have no idea.

Where the money hides:

  • Streaming services you don't watch
  • The gym you haven't been to in months
  • Apps with free trials that converted to paid
  • Old software subscriptions
  • Services you share but are still paying for
  • That thing you signed up for and totally forgot about

How to find your hidden spending:

  1. Pull up your bank statement from last month
  2. Highlight every recurring charge
  3. For each one, ask: "Did I use this in the last 30 days?"
  4. If no, cancel it

The "cancel first" rule: Don't think about whether you might use it. Cancel it. If you actually miss it, you can re-subscribe. Most services make it easy to come back.

Apps that can help:

  • Rocket Money (finds and cancels subscriptions)
  • Trim (same thing)
  • Your bank's app might have this built in

WHAT TO DO TODAY:

  1. Open your bank statement from last month
  2. Search for recurring charges (or filter by merchant)
  3. Find 1-3 subscriptions you haven't used in 30+ days
  4. Cancel them right now—before you click away from this article

Even finding one $15 subscription is $180/year back in your pocket.
